Permanent Mirage

2024

Collaborative exhibition with Cóilín O'Connell at Radion, Amsterdam

Permanent Mirage is a collaborative project by Coilin O'Connell and Cillian Finnerty, which takes as its starting point the dual meanings of the terms 'hoard/cache': both as the compulsive accumulation of often worthless objects, and as a term for a valuable archaeological find. Cache in its original sense refers to a stockpile of objects, but in contemporary digital parlance has become synonymous with a term for computer memory.

Comprising collage, found-object assemblage, and sculptural works, the exhibition explored what happens when currency, images, commodities, or energies are removed from circulation, held in suspense, or when flows of value are interrupted.
